Is the Upcoming Release of Apple's VR Headset a Good Idea?
Apple is known for practically never officially announcing new products until those products are ready for launch. The same company in the past has repeatedly accomplished what seemed impossible, with developers and engineers having to stand on their eyebrows to fulfill Steve Jobs' promises, but Tim Cook, after the mishap with AirPower, which never came to be, is more cautious – well, or at least he was, because that could change. And since, even though we would love to start watching our VR porn movies on Apple hardware, one question haunts us: how will it be this time?
According to the latest reports, the current head of the Cupertino-based company has backed Jeff Williams and his decision not to wait for the company to be able to create AR glasses. Instead, the first generation of standalone virtual and/or mixed reality goggles from Apple is expected to go on sale, and as early as this year. The company's employees, on the other hand, have reportedly warned that the product they actually want to make will not be ready for production in the foreseeable future and could cause problems, for example, during sessions with interactive VR sex experiences.
When Will Apple Glasses Debut?
Apple is admittedly not officially working on any AR, MR, or VR kit, but the fact that the company is developing such hardware along with the realityOS is already an open secret at this stage. Knowing life, the first set will be officially announced as early as a quarter from now at WWDC 2023, and even devkits may then be sent to developers and producers of VR xxx videos to start writing their applications already.
Unfortunately, the latest reports (like the previous ones about overheating prototypes) do not inspire optimism. First of all, what is different is such a hypothetical devkit, which may appear after this year's Worldwide Developers Conference, and what is different is the finished product. Secondly, for the time being, we don't think there is anything to hope for a real augmented reality revolution that would change the capabilities of this technology in the face of virtual reality porn.
Developers of hardware in the new category would reportedly like to wait even a few years before making a debut until the technology allows them to create lightweight glasses that superimpose digital images in the real world. So far, according to informants, they are only able to make something like a ski mask with screens covering half of the wearer's face, and that would be the product that would go on sale – and that doesn't sound very promising when you think about VR sex scenes, does it?
Let's Just Hope It Doesn't End Up in Disaster
For a long time, the company has mostly presented its products only when they are ready to come off the production line and hit customers any minute. There are only a few exceptions to this rule, as in the case when Apple reminded that it has not abandoned the Mac Pro and is still working on it, but that's it – these are the exceptions, not the rule.
It's also hardly surprising that Apple prefers to hold its cards to orders. The company got burned once already when it presented the AirPower charger to the world. It was supposed to charge several devices simultaneously on one mat, but engineers were unable to solve the problems afflicting the design. As a result, Apple had to swallow a bitter pill and canceled the launch.
Will Apple's Goggles End Up Like the AirPower Charger?
Apple is the hegemon of the new technology market, but it has been rumored for years that it has lost the patch as an innovator, and this could be the reason for the decision to launch the goggles in 2023, despite those designer objections reported by informants. Let's just hope it doesn't end up announcing a product that fails to deliver because that would be a huge disappointment for all fans of premium VR sex scenes.
Despite all the turmoil ourselves, we are counting on Tim Cook not to rush too much, especially if Apple's goggles cost more than $2500. Hardware in this category in its current form has failed to enter the mainstream for a reason, and while we know that many of you are able to pay for a revolution in the experience of virtual reality porn, they are still single audiences.
Still, virtual, mixed, and augmented reality is the domain of geeks, and if the Cupertino-based company wants its VR/MR/AR hardware to be a revolution on par with the iPhone, it should present a product that is different from Oculus/Meta Quest, HTC Vive, Valve Index and PlayStation VR. And that's even if it would involve waiting a few years for Apple Glass – the release of which you will surely hear about from us at VRBangers.com!
