Meta Will Improve the Privacy of VR Users

If you buy Oculus Quest goggles (the brand is now owned by Facebook), you must create an account on the social platform. Rivals in the VR segment do not have such requirements, and Facebook is beginning to recognize that it should no longer expect customers to do so. Instead of using a Facebook account, users will need to create a separate Meta account. They will also need a Meta Horizon social profile – for Mark Zuckerberg's metaverse.

Is that good, or is that bad? Hard to tell for now. But – and that's what we care about the most – that's certainly a good step ahead for the privacy of the users of these VR goggles, who – for example, because of VR porn movies – care about their privacy at least a little bit. And even if not, still producers like us, Virtual Reality Bangers, care about the privacy of our customers anyway – and since we think that Oculus Quest VR goggles are amazing for watching virtual reality sex, we're glad to hear that the company is heading in that direction.

Of course, not everything is going to change. Some sort of account is still gonna be required so that users can log in and, for example, buy content – which is then assigned to their profile. However, Facebook is not required anymore, and it should've never been – because our social media profiles shouldn't be doing anything with methods of how we entertain ourselves, e.g. with the use of VR sex scenes.

Starting next month, owners of Oculus-branded VR goggles will no longer need a Facebook account. It is also very possible that Meta wants to unify accounts on its services. Currently, the company offers Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, where we can use separate accounts. It is very possible that in the future Meta will want users to have a single account, providing access to all social services and metaverse using VR goggles.

Meta is betting on VR

Facebook acquired the manufacturer of VR goggles Oculus in 2014. However, it wasn't until 2020 that the company began requiring users to have a Facebook account to log into their VR profile. For many customers, this was a big drawback – they felt a Facebook account shouldn't be required, plus they were concerned about privacy and Facebook's data processing issues, which could be crucial for our sexual preferences and the ways we enjoy VR porn.

Now Facebook has finally changed its mind and will introduce Meta accounts and Meta Horizon profiles. Oculus users who do not set up these accounts will have to do so by 2023. This is because by then the company wants to support existing accounts. It is worth mentioning that Meta accounts – at least for now – are not linked to social networks. They simply allow users to log in to VR devices and view and manage purchased content.

The Meta Horizon profile, on the other hand, serves as a social profile in the VR world and other environments (such as the web browser). Friends in VR become our "observers" there, and we can decide whether we want to share our information with them, such as activities, achievements, and apps we own. Meta Horizon profiles also offer three privacy options: open to everyone, friends and family, and solo. We can also set the profile as a private one, which means we will be asked to check and approve requests from observers each time.

All those changes are promising, and we hope that our viewers using Oculus VR headsets for VR porn movies will be able to keep on using them without worrying about their privacy whatsoever!
