METAVERSE – What is It?
The Metaverse is an alternate reality similar to the internet but allows for greater immersion. The Metaverse is a theoretical, for the time being, virtual place where users using their own avatars could conduct their lives. In principle, it can be imagined as an internet in which we would navigate using virtual reality. It is still a purely theoretical creation, as no one has yet decided to even try to put it into practice. This is, of course, primarily due to technical and technological shortcomings. Too little popularity of VR devices and still not enough bandwidth makes the topic of Metaverse rather a curiosity – yet since our VR porn movies are struggling with similar issues, we got interested in this topic and we'd like to explain it to you on behalf of this blog post.
Facebook Metaverse
Among the books and videos that treat the Metaverse as a major theme, one company has emerged that takes the Metaverse topic very seriously. Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook has decided to conduct research and analysis to prepare the best Metaverse model for users. Facebook, to show how seriously it takes the Metaverse topic, has changed its name to Meta. What was shown at the Connect 2021 conference from Meta will be modified many more times, and it will be many more years before we get an alternative 3D world for everyone – the world that could possibly have some VR porn elements included that we're hoping for.
Metaverse vs. NFT Tokens
There are more and more single solutions coming to the consciousness of users, which can confidently announce that something like the metaverse is not so much going to be created as it is being created. We have better and better data technology, more and easier access to really good VR goggles including, for example, the Oculus Quest 2 (and soon the Oculus Quest 3), and of course – the growing interest of large companies which involves pumping gigantic money into the metaverse. For us, ordinary internet users, in addition to access to VR goggles and stuff like VR sex scenes, there has recently emerged such a thing as NFT (Non-Fungible Token).
What is NFT (Non-Fungible Token)?
An NFT is a unique, one-of-a-kind product that we can own as a digital entity. It happens that it can be a real object and is reflected on the blockchain. Under NFT, we can become owners (for real cash, of course) of such digital products as collectible sports cards, virtual real estate, or virtual artworks. They can also be components of all sorts of assets representing a wide range of tangible and intangible objects.
An NFT token can be virtually any digital artwork – it can be, for example:
- a graphic or a meme
- a sound file
- a video file or an animation
- a virtual avatar
- an object related to the game
- a collecting card
- music
A key feature of NFTs is non-exchangeability. This means that each such piece must be unique or come in a limited number of pieces. In a nutshell, NFT is about buying unique and inimitable virtual items with real money. It can be said that NFT is a speculator's paradise, as people who buy NFT products often count on the fact that they can resell them at a much higher profit after some time.
What Does NFT Have in Common with the Metaverse?
There's no denying that buying virtual goods is designed to get the public used to make similar purchases already within the Metaverse. Imagine your virtual home, which you will furnish with virtual furniture from IKEA through NFT. This topic is still rather fresh and no, we don't have any plans with releasing some NFT VR porn movies, or maybe… who knows, actually!
